HOW TO MAKE GRANNY CAKE FROM SCRATCH:
To begin, your oven should be preheated at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Using nonstick cooking spray, grease a 9×13-inch glass baking dish and put it aside.
Mix all of the ingredients in a large mixing basin, starting with the granulated sugar.
Combine the eggs, crushed pineapples, and pineapple juice in a large mixing bowl until everything is thoroughly blended. After that, pour the cake batter onto the baking dish that has been prepared.
Brown sugar and chopped nuts are sprinkled on top of the batter before baking. Bake the cake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and dry. Cool the cake on a wire rack before serving.
While the cake is baking, combine the evaporated milk, granulated sugar, and butter in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. After bringing the liquid to a boil, remove it from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract until well incorporated. Set the sauce aside to cool.
Using a knife or the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake once it has completed baking, this will let the glaze to seep into the cake.
Pour the warm glaze over the top of the cake. Before serving, let the cake cool entirely to room temperature. Allow the cake to soak up the glaze for several hours before slicing and serving it for the best results.
HOW TO STORE LEFTOVERS:
Make sure to carefully wrap any leftover cake. It will keep for up to three days if kept at room temperature or on the kitchen counter. It is also possible to freeze the cake for up to three months.
