All you need for the cake is :
2 cups all-purpose flour.
2 cups granulated sugar.
2 cups softened butter.
1 cup of warm water.
2 large eggs.
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.
1 teaspoon baking soda.
1/2 cup buttermilk.
For the frosting you’ll need :
1 cup softened butter.
3 cup granulated sugar.
2 tsp vanilla extract.
1 cup of heavy cream.
A pinch of salt.
I preheated oven to 350 degrees F and spray two cake pans with cooking spray.
Combine flour and sugar until blended.
meanwhile melt butter with water in a small saucepan, then pour over the flour and sugar. whisk again.
Add baking soda, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk, and whisk until smooth.
Pour into prepared pans and bake for 25 minutes, and let them cool on a rack for 15 minutes.
Now, it’s time to make the delicious caramel frosting, In a saucepan, place 2 cups and half of the sugar, butter, heavy cream and a pinch of salt, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Then add vanilla and 1/2 cup of sugar, and keep stirring until it becomes an amber color. Let it cool for about 15 minutes, and spread frosting on the cooled cake layers. Stack layers; ice top and sides.
